THE Royal Opotiki is back in full flight following the Covid-19 lockdown, feeding the community and raising money for charity.
Owners Anne and Lindsay Thrupp started the community fundraising in April and are ready to hand over some money to the Opotiki Volunteer Fire Brigade.
“We’ve been collecting for three months,” Mrs Thrupp said.
“For every meal sold, the restaurant donates one dollar to the cause.”
She said the fundraising initiative was well received by customers and the community.
“Local people are happy to give us business so we can pay it forward,” she said. “We’re looking at collecting for the ambulance service in the next support round.”
