FOR 96-year-old Ivy Swailes of Ohope, age is just a number.
It definitely didn’t deter her from enjoying the helicopter ride organised by family for her birthday.
Stephen Woods from Opotiki Helicopters took time out from his usual routine of dropping off and collecting hunters to play tour guide last weekend, giving Ivy a wonderful bird’s eye view of Ohope.
Sharing the trip with Ivy were son Nigel and his partner Fiona, who shares a birthday with her mother-in-law.
Also along for the ride was Ohope Top 10 Holiday Park manager Mark Inman who gave permission for the helicopter to land at the park, much to the delight of watching campers and neighbours.
Ivy’s family has appreciated the help, care and ongoing support provided by Mark and his staff since the 2017 tornado that caused significant damage at the campground and left Ivy trapped in her bedroom.
