NOTES, the bank lamb, and Whakatane ANZ raised an impressive $3012 for the Whakatane Cancer Society on Daffodil Day last week.

Natasha Priestley, senior service consultant and “mum” to Notes says that just from a bake sale and merchandise alone, the end sum was a great result.

People from all over came to visit the lamb, including a 92-year-old woman who was brought down to The Strand from her nursing home by her daughters.

According to Natasha, “so many people said, ‘we came down here just to see her and donate,’” and because of the interaction with Notes, it felt like they we’re getting to know the community better.

“Hearing people’s stories about cancer and how it’s touched people, it’s amazing how many people are affected, and I question the one in three, I think everyone knows someone.”

The help they received was humbling and many enthusiastic people showed up on the day for cuddles and donations.
