PROFESSIONALS Whakatane is holding a landlord information evening next month to outline the ins and outs of owning rental investment properties.
Professionals principal Kathryn McKay said the August 1 event was open to existing rental property owners and those considering buying an investment property.
“This is not restricted to our own clients but is open to anyone who currently owns investment property or is looking to purchase and includes anyone whether they privately manage or have another management company servicing their investment property,” she said.
Five topics will be discussed at the event and each speaker will give a 10-minute review of the issues. Speakers will speak on landlords’ responsibilities regarding vacating tenants; asbestos and meth; having your investment work for you; healthy homes and insulation, and a property manager question and answer session.
“Our own rental team will explain the responsibilities for both the landlord and the tenant when tenants vacate and will provide an opportunity for Q&As from the floor,” Ms McKay said.
She recommends those interested in attending pre-register at Professionals before the August 1 deadline as there is limited space.
Smart Energy regional manager Carl Vujnovich will address insulation and the Healthy Homes Bill that will come into effect from July 1, 2021. Ms McKay said this was one of the more pressing issues facing rental property owners.
“We would recommend property owners start looking to work towards this now.”
