FROM sports events to protest marches, from police raids to armed robbers, a photojournalist’s job is as varied as it is colourful.

Toward the end of last year, Eastern Bay Life and Beacon photographer Louis Klaassen left to travel overseas, but his portfolio was still strong enough to win him the runner up place in the New Zealand Community Newspapers Association’s Senior News Photographer Award for 2018, which was announced last weekend at a ceremony in Christchurch.
