Opotiki harbour

WHAKATOHEA Mussels has taken on two extra staff, bringing the total number of employees to 14.

Following a bi-monthly meeting of the Opotiki Marine Advisory Group, Opotiki Mayor John Forbes will discuss the mussel farm’s progress further at today’s Opotiki District Council meeting.

The advisory group is progressing toward hiring a project and programme manager, funded by the Government’s Provincial Growth Fund, for the proposed harbour development, a council agenda item reports.

The manager’s position will be responsible for the management of about 65 projects identified in a regional development programme report.

Alongside this, the first phase of rock source investigations got underway in mid-January, moving forward with the Opotiki harbour redesign.
