MORE than 100 primary school students pedalled their way through challenges during the interschool cycle day on Wednesday.

The schools involved were Apanui, Allandale, James Street, Whakatane Seventh-day Adventist, Thornton, Ohope Beach and Matata Public schools.
Organiser Richard Hamer says110 students participated in the challenge that required teams of 10 to complete cycling challenges.

The challenges included bike and helmet checks, balancing, handling a bike with one hand and signalling at a roundabout. There were also ramps for students to practice their BMX jumps.

The winners of the challenge were the cyclists from Whakatane Seventh-day Adventist School.
