No dentist in town over holidays

OPOTIKI dentist Paul Owen is at home recuperating from an eye malady until the end of January.

Mr Owen said he had suffered a detached retina and that he had had surgery for it.

“I’m at home recovering for the next two months,” he said. “It’s not the first time I’ve had time off.”

Mr Owen said Opotiki residents and patients needing dental treatment should call his surgery on 315 6124 and they would be re-directed to the appropriate dentist in Whakatane or Kawerau.

Mr Owen has been Opotiki’s sole dentist since 2002.

Opotiki’s primary school-aged children are serviced by mobile dental units operated by the Bay of Plenty District Health Board.
