THREE Opotiki runners took high placements at the Taupo Ultramarathon last Saturday.
The full 100-kilometre course can be tackled in one of five races, the 24km, 50km, 100km and the 100km relay.
The courses cover stretches of native forest, mountain ranges and more, for competitors to enjoy during their journey, and can take well over half a day to complete.
Luke Seufert tackled the 24km run, finishing second out of 171 participants, and winning his age-group of under-20.
Trevor Collins competed in the 74km run, winning his 50-58 age-group and coming 19th out of 64 participants.
Steve Wattam aimed big and took on the 100km course, placing 10th in his 20-39 age-group and 25th out of the 94 participants.
