MONICA Falkner missed out on Silver Ferns selection but was named in three national netball teams.
The 17-player squad was named in Auckland on Wednesday as the national team faces a challenging period after a worst-ever finish at a Commonwealth Games tournament in April.
Falkner, who started most games at goal attack for the Waikato Bay of Plenty in the ANZ Premiership, was named in the New Zealand development, New Zealand A and Fast5 Ferns teams.
The New Zealand A team, which includes 11 development squad players, will meet Australia, South Africa and England in the build-up to the Netball Quad Series which starts in Auckland next month.
Coaches for the development and New Zealand A teams are yet to be appointed.
The Fast5 Netball World Series will be played in Australia at the end of October. Falkner is one of three players to return from last year’s squad along with Ameliaranne Ekenasio and Whitney Souness.
New Zealand have had success in the shorter format, having won the title six times since the tournament’s inception in 2009.
England is the only other team to have won the tournament, after winning in 2011 and beating Jamaica in last year’s final.
This year’s Fast5 Netball World Series will be played in Melbourne on October 27 and 28 and includes teams from New Zealand, Australia, England, Jamaica, Malawi and South Africa.
